Polis & Latchi Area Information
Polis Chrysochous is a relatively unspoiled tourist destination in Cyprus. Located in the northwest of the Paphos region at a 30 minute distance from the town of Paphos, 45 minutes from Paphos airport and approximately 2 hours away from Larnaka airport. Polis Chrysochous is an ideal holiday location for the select few who appreciate the authentic Cyprus life and seek rest and tranquility in a pleasant and friendly environment, which blends mountains, sea and plain with a wonderful healthy climate, a mild winter, a particularly warm, clear sea and clean beaches.
The village has a full range of facilities - shops of all kind, banks, tavernas, restaurants, bars, car hire, tour organisers, and indeed anything required by locals and visitors. Polis is a working village whose inhabitants welcome visitors, many of whom return year after year to enjoy the quiet life and welcome from the locals. There is a regular bus service to Paphos and taxis are numerous and cheap.
The great advantage of Polis Chrysochous is its close vicinity to the beautiful Akamas peninsula, a nature reserve area. To walk along Akamas nature trails accompanied by the panoramic view of the bay of Polis (Chrysochou Bay) is a unique experience. Polis Chrysochous is considered as the location par excellence for nature lovers and those keen on active holidays, such as hiking, cycling, horse riding and golf. The Tsada Golf Course (one of three golf courses in Cyprus) is just 25 minutes away from Polis.
Latchi is a small village adjacent to the busy fishing harbour and marina. There are several excellent fish restaurants, tavernas and bars. Shops are open all day every day selling all normal day-to-day requirements. There are banks, car and cycle hire, taxis, tour organisers, etc all within walking distance of the harbour. From the harbour you can take a boat trip along the bay, hire a small boat to explore the isolated coves along the bay, hire scuba diving equipment, paraglide, etc.
There are two excellent clean beaches, one either side of the village. They have plentiful sun beds and umbrellas for hire and have bar facilities adjacent. The municipal beach has a children's play area, public changing facilities and both have a lifeguard.
The famous Baths of Aphrodite are five kilometres along the coast and the Akamas area offers stunning views and access to Lara Beach and the turtle hatchery.
